Electronic Warfare Manufacturer Case Study
Unidex designs and manufactures custom material handling equipment, ergonomic lift tables, and workstation positioning systems for industrial assembly environments. For manufacturers handling sensitive electronic components, workstation ergonomics and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection are critical to both operator safety and product integrity.
This project highlights how Unidex customized PH Workstation Tables for L3 Harris to support ergonomic assembly processes while integrating ESD protection for sensitive defense electronics applications.
The Challenge: Static Control and Assembly Ergonomics
The manufacturer required workstation equipment to support assembly operations involving sensitive electronic components. Existing carts lacked height adjustability, requiring operators to repeatedly bend during assembly and material-handling tasks. This created ergonomic concerns for operators while making it more difficult to safely position components during production workflows.
The project also required electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection to support electronics assembly processes. Sensitive defense electronics applications require operators and workstation surfaces to minimize static buildup that could damage components during handling and assembly. Standard workstation equipment often lacks integrated ESD protection features.
The Solution: Customized PH Workstation Tables
Our engineering team evaluated the customer’s operational and ergonomic requirements to configure PH Workstation Tables for their assembly environment. The project focused on workstation customization, ESD integration, and deployment across multiple facilities.

Dimensional customization
Table tops were modified to match the customer’s specified sizing requirements

Surface modifications
Edging and surface materials were adjusted to support the customer’s handling and assembly procedures

ESD integration
ESD components were incorporated into the workstation design to help operators safely dissipate static electricity during assembly operations

Multi-site deployment
Customized workstation tables were manufactured and shipped to multiple East Coast facilities within a two-to-four-week lead time depending on configuration requirements
The Results: Improved Operator Safety and Workflow
The adjustable workstation tables improved ergonomics during assembly operations by allowing operators to position work surfaces at appropriate heights. This reduced repetitive bending during component handling and helped create a safer, more consistent assembly environment.
Integrated ESD functionality helped protect sensitive electronic components during handling and assembly. Unidex completed the required workstation customizations while staying within the customer’s budget.
Following deployment, this electronic warfare manufacturer has continued to order additional customized workstation tables for both large defense programs and smaller project requirements.
