Custom Lift for Liberty Pumps
Liberty Pumps is a leading manufacturer of large sump pumps for groundwater and wastewater removal in commercial applications. With a focus on providing innovative product designs, hundreds of contractors across the country rely on Liberty Pump’s products every day.
Liberty Pumps recently approached Unidex to supply them with a custom lift to help streamline their manufacturing process. By providing the customer with custom Electric Column Lift (ECL) Series lifts and Electric Hydraulic (EH) manipulators, we were able to not only improve the efficiency of their manufacturing process but also help enhance workplace comfort and safety for their team. The Problem
Liberty Pumps faced challenges when assembling large pumps, as heavy components needed to be manipulated and rolled 180 degrees so technicians could work on the top and bottom of the equipment. Previously, this manipulation was done by hand, which was time-consuming, as they had to unhook the equipment, turn it, and hook it back up before they could keep working. Not only did this slow down operations, it also posed a threat to workplace safety, as employees had to manually manipulate heavy components and equipment.
The Solution
To help address these issues, we supplied Liberty Pumps with custom lift equipment, including ECL electric column lift and EH hydraulic manipulators, to help improve the efficiency of their manufacturing process. EH manipulators could safely and efficiently roll parts 180 degrees to provide access to the top or bottom, while ECL lifts fitted with brakes on the arm allowed employees to adjust the height of the parts they’re working on while minimizing drift.
The Results
The EH manipulators and ECL lifts we provided the customer with helped improve the manufacturing process by:
- Streamlining operations. By making it easier to lift and rotate parts during the assembly process.
- Creating a safer work environment. Employees no longer need to manipulate heavy parts by hand.
- Allowing team members to work at their height. While employees previously did all of their work on a workbench, which required them to bend over or stretch up to reach equipment, the lifts can be adjusted to the height of the operator, improving employee comfort.
