"On our Lean Journey we have been met with challenges and have used our internal skills and creativity. We transformed 7 assembly lines into cells. The final line was going to be the most challenging. The challenge was provided by the needs to reduce or eliminate the current heavy lifting performed by the operators in the cell. Many components weigh in excess of 40 pounds.

Our team, 3 operators from the line, the Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer, and Lean Leader agreed we needed external assistance on this transformation. We chose Unidex. They visited with us on multiple occasions. They reviewed the current process with us and listened and offered a solution to conquer our biggest lifting issues in the cell. The solution was reviewed once at Unidex with the entire team and minor changes instituted.

The final product was delivered and installed for the kaizen to kick off the line. The line has run since inception and everyone is impressed with the improvements to safety and productivity that the new station has given us. It was our partnership with Unidex on this project that made it happen."
