ECL Manipulator ECL Series Electric Column Lift Manipulators Provide Fine Height Adjustment for Close Tolerance Positioning Applications

Unidex, Inc. introduces its new Model ECL Series Electric Column Lift Manipulator, a fine-height lifting system with 270° articulating arms plus end effectors for handling close tolerance work positioning requirements. The new ECL Series manipulators feature an electric-powered chain/sprocket drive that provides lifting and lowering while the end-of-arm controls provide three-speed vertical height adjustment. The unique design allows smooth, continuous movement throughout the work area. Horizontal movement is not restricted by vertical supports, cables or vacuum hoses. This permits the arm to maintain the attitude of the load for reach-in or reach-under applications.

The new ECL Series manipulator has a standard lift stroke of 54" and load capacity of 250 lbs. 96" from the centerline. An Aut-O-Loc™ braking system provides firm support and protects the operator from downward movement in case of chain or drive failure. Tubular and bridge-style arms are provided in standard lengths of 72" and 92" from the carriage to the end of the arm pivot. Manually-guided articulating arms are available with radial reaches up to 96".

ECL Series manipulators can be customized with a variety of optional features including:
  • Stainless steel construction for sanitary or corrosive environments and nickel-plated for corrosion-resistance. (Other special materials and finishes available.)
  • Variety of lift strokes and load capacities.
  • Various articulating arm lengths and designs.
  • Standard and customized end effectors.
  • Lever arm, push-button or pendant controls.
  • Overhead mounting systems.
  • Mobile units.
Workbench 500-Lb. Load Capacity Model AHW Adjustable-Height Workbench

A new adjustable-height workbench from Unidex, Inc. provides instant adjustments of working heights at up to four-inches-per-second lifting speed to accommodate a variety of work positioning requirements and optimum ergonomic working heights for different workers. The Unidex AHW "Powr-Lift" workbench features an air/oil hydraulic lift system that provides a full range of height increments within its lift stroke. Model AHW2718 has a lift stroke of 18" from 27" to 45" high. Model AHW9536 has a lift stroke of 36" from 9.5" to 45.5" high.

The AWH "Powr-Lift" is designed to function smoothly regardless of uneven weight distribution, and has a load capacity of 500 lbs. A blocking valve provides firm support and serves as a safety back-up by protecting the operator from downward movement in case of air loss. A 30" by 60" solid maple butcher-block work surface is standard.

AHW Series adjustable-height workbenches can be customized with a wide range of options including:
  • Stainless steel construction for sanitary or corrosive environments.
  • Variety of work surfaces and styles such as stainless steel and aluminum ESD.
  • Custom sizes and materials of construction.
  • Various heights, lift strokes, and load capacities.
  • Foot pedal hydraulic and electric-hydraulic models.
  • Casters to create a mobile workbench.
  • Cabinets, shelves, drawers, hoods, power strips, lights, and air couplings.
  • Trunion mounts for work rotation.
  • Standard or custom work-holding fixtures.
Overhead Manipulator Overhead-Mounted Manipulators for Core Handling

Unidex, Inc. announces the addition of a new Overhead-Mounted Manipulator system (UM Series) to its line of ergonomic workstations and material handling equipment. Designed for core handling and other lifting applications, the new electric-powered manipulator is mounted from and overhead crane and features specialized end effectors that utilize power rotation and gripping with reach-in capability.

The overhead manipulator has a lift capacity of 500 lbs. at centerline of the column and offers two speeds for lifting and lowering (1.6-in./sec. & 6.4-in./sec). The round, telescoping lift column permits lift strokes of 60" or more from floor level. A manually guided arm allows for rotation of 360° at the column centerline.

The new overhead manipulator is designed for optimum flexibility and stability. It takes advantage of the X and Y axis movement offered by bridge cranes plus reach-in flexibility for machine loading and unloading. In addition, it stabilizes out-of-balance or fragile loads that cannot be stabilized when using a swinging hoist.

Unidex offers a variety of manual and powered end effectors to be attached to the manipulator arm. The UM Series can also be used for handling castings, parts or tooling as well as stacking and reaching into restricted areas such as ovens, parts washers, racks, presses, and other equipment. Control options include handle-mounted controls and pendant operation.
